What We Do

The North Polk School Foundation is dedicated to creating and supporting opportunities that directly impact students, teachers, and the future of education in the North Polk community.

Through events like Celebrate North Polk gala, our annual golf tournament, tailgate, and concession stand work—as well as generous corporate and private donations—the North Polk School Foundation invests back into our schools. We fund teacher grants, senior recognition and scholarships, and meaningful projects throughout the year that enrich the educational experience for every student.

*Applications must be approved by your building administrator before submitting the grant request for consideration*

Senior Scholarship Awards

The North Polk School Foundation Scholarship was established in 2004 to recognize well-rounded North Polk seniors who have contributed positively to their communities. The NPSF Scholarship is a service-based scholarship and will be primarily awarded based on a student's community service and volunteer work within their school and community.

$500-$1000 scholarships are awarded each year to students planning to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities, or vocational schools.

Applications must be submitted to by April 25th.

Senior Night Recognition

On May 14, 2025, we proudly celebrated 174 graduating seniors and their many accomplishments during North Polk’s annual Senior Night Recognition. It was a wonderful evening honoring our students’ hard work, dedication, and achievements as they prepare for the next chapter. Guests enjoyed a sweet treat of cookie bars, good company, and plenty of celebration!

The 17th Annual North Polk Football Tailgate was held on September 5, 2025, at the football field concessions area. Guests enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches, chips, and cookies before cheering on the Comets under the Friday night lights.

We extend our sincere thanks to our event sponsors (Devin Miller, Polk City Casey’s, Polk City Fareway, and Hy-Vee, North Ankeny) and all who joined us in supporting the Foundation.

Comet Open

After taking a short pause, our annual golf outing returned in 2023 with great energy and enthusiasm! The 13th annual event was held on September 7, 2025, at Jester Park Golf Course, where participants enjoyed beautiful weather, friendly competition, and wonderful camaraderie.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our golfers, community members, and local business sponsors, this year’s tournament raised nearly $11,000 to support North Polk students! The outing featured 18 teams, 19 hole sponsors, a 4-person Best Shot (18 holes), along with raffles, door prizes, and a shared meal to close out the day.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s event such a success!

Celebrate North Polk - Building a Comet LEGACY

The 2025 Celebrate North Polk gala was an incredible evening of community, celebration, and Comet pride! Teaming up with the Fine Arts Boosters and Athletic Boosters, we gathered for a night filled with camaraderie, live music, auctions, a delicious dinner, and the always-popular Dessert Dash.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and attendees, the event raised over $90,000 in support of students and programs across North Polk Community Schools — a true testament to our shared commitment to Building a Comet LEGACY.

Mark your calendars! The next Celebrate North Polk will be held on May 30, 2026 — we can’t wait to celebrate with you again.
